meta.book.authority

The mdBook Design chapter tree is the canonical specification. Markdown and .sage are equally authoritative source formats within that tree. Every active rule definition belongs to a Design chapter with identifiable source context; its appearances in generated indexes or anchor pages refer to that definition and do not create additional definitions.

Review: Accepted · Codex /root/anchor_094.

Fresh followup review of the complete meta.book.authority claim. I saved the prior input/report before start, read the prior complete assessment, captured the same dependencies anew, and compared every matching fragment. The claim, both tests, spec_plan.rs and all four dependencies (BookFixture, workspace.rs, book/anchors.rs, parser.rs) are byte-for-byte unchanged. The sole source delta in spec.rs consists of two association comments: implementation_references on the existing unknown-reference validator and crate_ownership on the existing missing-model-owner rejection. Neither changes execution or the claim's implementation. Both current implementation entries remain the ordinary inventory code and explicit TODO region.

The full claim requires the mdBook Design tree to be canonical, equal authority for Markdown and Sage source, identifiable context for every active definition, and generated appearances to reference rather than duplicate definitions. Current load_workspace uses the configured source root and SUMMARY inventory, adds modeled crate/owned companion sources, and distinguishes normative Design chapters from tenets, RFD/research and generated anchor content. Both Markdown and Sage prose feed add_chapter_text and the same canonical definition map. Definitions preserve qualified names, source file/spans and context URL. Sage parsing supplies prose blocks and offsets/owners, and dedent mapping preserves source context. Omitted normative Markdown/model sources cause diagnostics instead of silently disappearing; duplicates are diagnosed. The two added comments do not affect these paths.

The captured generated-page renderer reads spec.anchors and emits claim content with source/context navigation; it does not create definitions. The normative predicate excludes generated design/anchor sources. The unchanged workspace and parser dependencies support configured roots, model ownership and original prose ranges. These facts support the authority model, while the explicit TODO below retains the uncompleted combined regression scenario.

I read both current associated test bodies. canonical_inventory_uses_configured_chapters_and_local_names uses the actual BookFixture configured with manual as a nondefault source root. It asserts clean diagnostics, precisely two canonical Markdown rule names, README namespace, exact canonical context URL and three normative documents. Tenets/RFD marker text does not become definitions. Those are meaningful ordinary assertions for inventory authority, not Sage/generated round-trip coverage. todo::design_chapters_are_canonical is both TODO implementation and test evidence, with no behavioral assertions. It explicitly defers the combined requirement that only Design definitions are indexed and repeated generated text retains a single definition. Completing it requires mixed Markdown/owned-Sage source fixtures, identifiable contexts, generated appearances, and re-indexing assertions preserving canonical identities/counts. Current ordinary coverage partly exercises that requirement but does not promote the empty TODO to proof. No N/A entries exist.

The prior assessment remains justified after checking the actual marker-only delta against all claim aspects. No unrelated design issue was reopened. This review used fresh start/read/record and source inspection, not test execution; central tests are reported by the coordinator. No source changes, behavioral test reruns, or requested edits.
